Troop 2 to Help With Physical Fitness Experiment

Troop 2 has been asked for volunteers to participate in a science fair experiment over the next month. Participation is voluntary. A brief presentation will occur on August 2, with testing to begin Aug 9 and more testing to be done August 23.  The experiment is explained below.

“Through experimentation, we want to determine if there is correlation between BMI and recovery rate after exercise. We are testing adolescents from the ages of 12 to 21. We will be measuring height and weight of the participants in order to calculate their BMI. Participant’s resting blood pressure and heart rate will also be measured. After, participants will do jumping jacks for 90 seconds a cadence of 112 beats/second (not very fast!). After the exercise, blood pressure and heart rate will be measured a few times to determine the recovery rates and ratios. The entire duration of the experiment will only last about 10-15 minutes per participant.”

Testing will be done during the same time as Troop meetings with one boy being tested at a time.

If you would like to participate, please read the consent form thoroughly, print and fill in all requested blanks.  Please note:  the consent form MUST be signed by both the scout AND a parent, or the scout will not be allowed to participate. Download the Physical Fitness Test Consent Form
